Happy easing of the lockdown restrictions week ๐Ÿฅณ This week is also Mental Health Awareness Week and raising awareness of mental health issues has never been so important. The global pandemic has affected all of us, so as always, please remember that the NGA community are here to support you. Whether its accountancy related or for personal support, feel free to reach out to any of the team or our wider community within the WhatsApp group ๐Ÿ˜Š. In light of Mental Health Awareness Week, CABA is hosting Virtual Wellbeing Weekend 2021 where attendees can experience a range of free activities designed to help improve their mental wellbeing. CABA also have additional resources covering anxiety, managing stress and counselling. PILLAR 1 UPDATE: 7 ways to improve graduate employability ๐Ÿ’น Prospects have put together 7 top tips on the ways which students can improve their graduate employability. Due to the global pandemic, many students have found that work experience opportunities have been exceedingly difficult to find, however there are many ways which students can stand out by using their initiative. Prospects highlight some simple steps which students can take to help them stand out amongst the crowd, including things such as learning a new hobby and becoming a volunteer. Kaplan launches Digital Apprenticeship standards 2.0๐Ÿ’ป The new wave of Digital economy jobs have proved remarkably resilient to the COVID crisis - A cursory glance at any relevant website will show you just how many opportunities there are here. Apprenticeships โ€“ are a great way for everyone โ€“ of any age, experience or background to get into the sector. When the new Apprenticeship standards were launched in 2014, one of their key aims was to provide courses that were suitable for the near-future workplace. However, the world of digital moves so quickly and the standards have become outdated and a review was long overdue. Experts have since taken the time to reassess and rewrite many of the Digital standards, making sure that they are truly fit for purpose and that they give learners and employers the skills that are most valuable. This work has now completed and we are launching these new, new standards. If you havenโ€™t already done so, check them out below. They provide a great way of preparing your business for the challenges of tomorrow and for job seekers to access the still buoyant Digital jobs market - providing opportunities for anyone to access well-paid and rewarding careers. So whatโ€™s been launched? 1) NEW! Data Technician Apprenticeship Level 3 The Data Technician apprenticeship equips individuals with the ability to source, format and present data securely for analysis. Apprentices will learn to analyse structured and unstructured data to support business outcomes, blend data from multiple sources and communicate outcomes appropriately to their audience. 2) Data Analyst Apprenticeship Level 4 The Data Analyst apprenticeship equips individuals with the ability to ascertain how data can be used in order to understand and to solve problems. Apprentices will learn the process for requirement-gathering, inspecting, cleansing, transforming and modelling data with the goal of discovering useful information, informing conclusions and supporting decision-making. Data analysts may work in various departments within a single employer, (for example finance, sales, HR, manufacturing, or marketing), and in any employment sector, public or private, including retail, distribution, defence, banking, logistics, media, local government etc. 3) Business Analyst Apprenticeship Level 4 The Business Analyst apprenticeship equips individuals with the ability to understand the needs of stakeholders and how these can be met through business change and digital solutions. Business Analysts are solution professionals that help organisations deliver business and digital change successfully. This apprenticeship provides the skills and knowledge they need to determine and present technology solutions that deliver business improvement and benefits. Typical job titles include: Business Analyst, IT Business Analyst, Agile Business Analyst, Digital Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Requirements Analyst, Business Process Analyst. 4) Coming soon (2021)

PILLAR 3 UPDATE: An accountantโ€™s journey to becoming a digital nomad๐ŸŒ„ The past year we have all learnt what it is like to work virtually and for some this is the way forward. Alex Huerta shares her experience of moving to Bali to become a fully digital accounting nomad in hopes to inspire those wanting to take this leap. Driven by her love of travel, Alex took the leap to relocate after concluding that we were going to be working virtually for the foreseeable future. For Alex, the key to making the transition was having a well-thought-out plan, conducting plenty of research, and making connections with the ACCA in Indonesia. To read her full story, click here. The rise of non-fungible tokens ๐Ÿค‘ One of the most popular trends currently is the use of non-fungible tokens to sell unique digital art works by artists. Since the rise of Bitcoin, and more recently Dogecoin, cryptocurrencies have been spotlighted. They all have in common the use of blockchain technology, which enables them to carry out decentralised transactions between unknown parties. However, many are not aware that blockchain technology is also used regularly outside of cryptocurrencies in fields like banking, energy and in the art world. To find out more, click here.   • Preparing agendas, meeting minutes and action points at monthly meetings

  • Responding to emails in the NGA mailbox and adding new sign ups to the NGA mailing list

  • Collaborating with NGA pillar leaders to define, prioritise, and develop projects

  • Planning project management, including setting deadlines, prioritising tasks, and assigning team members to various deliverables

  • Continuously evaluating projects to ensure they are meeting deadlines

Requirements:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong attention to details and technicalities

  • Excellent organisational and technical skills

  • Good interpersonal and multi-tasking skills

2) Community Manager Responsibilities:

  • Initiating relevant discussions and posting interesting articles in the NGA Whatsapp group

  • Developing relationships with NGA members and highlighting when they need additional support

  • Creating an annual survey to send to NGA members and evaluating the results

  • Responding to comments and customer queries in a timely manner

Requirements:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Fantastic interpersonal and relationship building skills

3) Content Creator Responsibilities:

  • Generating new ideas for content, campaigns and the website

  • Setting and implementing social media and communication campaigns to align with marketing strategies

  • Providing engaging text, image, blogs and video content for social media accounts

  • Responding to comments and queries in a timely manner

  • Ensuring the website is up to date with the most relevant information

Requirements:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Fantastic design skills

  • Strong attention to details and technicalities
